When learning socio-emotional literacy, you learn to tell wrong from right and bad from good. Knowing how to use the web with good judgement allows you to distinguish between genuine and truthful persons from the phoney and dangerous ones. People now-a-days need to focus on identifying imitators and fake people, and they need to take precautions in chat rooms, and instant messaging, as well as unsecure websites. This socio-emotional literacy comprises protecting and looking after oneself from the hazards of the digital world. Do you feel that society is going to measurable means to ensure their safety on the net?
Yes, I do believe that society is doing a lot to help make the internet more user friendly. There are all kinds of programs available, such as spy-ware detectors, firewalls, and virus protection. There are also features like parental controls which you can enable on your browser. Parents can ensure that their kids can only get onto safe web sites, as long as they continue to help monitor them. However, the drawback of this is that it provides no actual education as to what and what not could potentially be a "dangerous" site.
ReplyDeleteI believe society has started to ensure safety on the internet. One of the reasons the internet is so popular because people can post anything they want to. With that comes the danger of the web. I believe that the only way society can fully unsure the internet safe they have to teach people how to tell the difference between what are true facts and what are just people’s ideas. Until we are able to teach people how to distinguish right from wrong then society is not completely safe.
